Sports & Culture
At Bridge Pa School, sport and cultural activities are an important part of school life. These experiences help our tamariki build confidence, develop teamwork, and grow a sense of pride in their school and community.
Located in the heart of Hawke’s Bay, our kura is part of a region rich in history, culture, and community spirit.
Through sport, performance, and cultural learning, students develop an appreciation for the heritage of the area while building friendships and new skills.
Sports
Sport plays an important role in helping students stay active and learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect for others. At Bridge Pa School, we encourage all students to take part in hākinakina, regardless of experience or ability.
Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in events such as athletics, cross country, swimming, and a variety of team sports. Many students also represent the school in local inter-school competitions across the Hawke’s Bay region, showing pride in their kura and supporting one another as teammates.
Through sport, our students learn the importance of kotahitanga — working together and supporting each other to achieve shared goals.
Culture
Kapa haka is a valued part of our school culture. Through kapa haka, students learn waiata, haka, and the stories that connect them to the history of the region.
Participation helps our tamariki build confidence, develop performance skills, and strengthen their understanding of the traditions of Ngāti Kahungunu, the iwi of much of the Hawke’s Bay area.
